Financial Crimes and Scams
Know how to protect yourself.
Fraud and scams are a major problem on the internet today. Innocent people who generally want to help are being conned out of their hard earned money almost on a daily basis. The worst part of this issue is that genuine charities and people who need help are finding it harder to receive the assistance they need because most of us are leery of giving our money away to criminals.
Simply put, you must be on guard at all times when on the internet. Some try to email us giving false information and a interesting sob story trying to tug at our heart strings getting us to part with our pay checks, others use viruses and computer programs to search out our private information to use for their own gain. Know the laws of your city/state/county, know where to report fraud and scams and how to protect your computer, and most importantly, make absolutely sure the person/organization you are giving to is who they say they are and their story checks out before you give away a single cent.
Proverbs 21:14-16
11 He who works his land will have abundant food,
but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment.
12 The wicked desire the plunder of evil men,
but the root of the righteous flourishes.
13 An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk,
but a righteous man escapes trouble.
